WNC August Newsletter

From Area President's Pen

I hope you are encouraged and benefiting from these Leadership Points your Area Team has been sending out. I'm continuing to emphasize Vision Building and Team Building along with the 4 Keys to advancing God's Kingdom in Western North Carolina.

VISION BUILDING for WNC:
Neh 2:20 The God of Heaven will give us success. We, His servants, will start Rebuilding! Hab. 2:2-3. Write the vision down (your vision or your team's vision) and run with it.

TEAM BUILDING for WNC:
Eph. 2:19-20 (emphasis mine) He put us together through the cross to build a home - A Holy Temple where we are all built INTO IT and He feels right at home among us.

These are archieved through '4' keys: IDENTIFICATION, PREPARATION, MULTIPLICATION AND ADVANCING.

Just one week after our Leadership Training, I attended John Maxwell's Leadership Simulcast entitled 'Advance'. I want to share a couple of highlights that I hope will strengthen you as you move forward in this God-given Strategy for WNC.

Of the many speakers on the Simulcast that day, the first one to speak was Spencer Tillman, a CBS sports analyst. He shared that to 'ADVANCE' you must first 'IDENTIFY' potential threats and perceived threats. Then you will be able to 'ADVANCE'. Here is where your contradictions (roadblocks) often come in: They must be identified.

As leaders, we need to question ourselves before the Lord and have people in our lives help us reach our goals and be accountable. In Aglow, ask yourself what do others see in us as individuals that would draw them to Jesus? What in our lighthouses needs to be changed? How can I be a part of making things better? How can I be an effective team member?

The second speaker at the Simulcast was Andy Andrews, author of The Travelers Gift, the story of a homeless man who got his life back. Andy referred to the 'Butterfly Effect' where everything we do matters and effects others. One person makes one move and that has a ripple effect. We PREPARE our personal lives so that we can be part of working corporately to MULTIPLY the work of the cross done in us.

Our choices determine our success.
Be someone people want to be around. Be a person of action. When you make a move, make it count. We can agree to disagree, but there is a time when we set our differences aside so we can move forward for a common good (This is TEAM BUILDING).

As a team, strive to get to a place where you are truly comfortable with yourselves as individuals and comfortable with each other as a team. Then you can effectively fulfill the call of God on your life with great joy. One way to do this is to put yourself in a place of accountability. This leaves room for mutual understanding with another person and opens the door to deeper and stronger relationships. This will also facilitate TEAM BUILDING whether in relationships at home, work or ministry.

When we work together in honesty and transparency, nothing will be impossible. God is for us. Who can be against us!

Something to Mediate on

For [if we are] in Christ Jeuss neither circumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love. Gal 5:6 amp
My Spirit came to attention as I read this verse. Could this be a key for my faith level to grow and mature? The law or the traditions of men are not what spur us on to maturity. Faith being energized by love really got my attention, but faith working by or through love is what challenged me.

Heb 11:1 says "now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." I believe there is a connection between Faith, Love and Hope. Faith is dependent on hope and love to work. This could be a reason why our faith is not working at a level we would like to see. What a difference the ungodly would see if the body of Christ (or just us Aglow women) would start walking out God's kind of love. We all know that Faith without works is dead, we could also say that Faith without love is dead.

So if Faith is activated through love and energized through love, and faith works through love, it would behoove us ladies to begin living and walking in love.
1 John 4:7&8 "Beloved let us love one another, for Love is of God and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God, he that loveth not, knoweth not God for God is love."

I would highly recommend reading the book "The Shack" by William P Young. You will experience the love of God in a new way.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Psalms 36:7
How excellent is thy loving-kindness, O God! Therefore, the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Thy wings.

We can take every petition to the throne of God.

Choose life. Eat from the tree of life (trusting God daily). Take every situation (no matter what it is) to the throne for God's infinite wisdom, mercy, and help.
Remember we are already seated together with Him in all spiritual blessings.

We are so blessed to have Janet Mangum our new Transformation Director and head over Missions from International Office speaking at our Leadership Area Meeting on August 29th, 2008. A special thinks to Asheville-Hendersonville who graciously accepted to host this meeting at the Montreat College dining room 12:30pm-4:00pm.

This meeting is part of fall leadership as well as working more closely with each lighthouse this fall, focusing on team building.

Here's more about transformation extracted from the www.Aglow.org website. I hope to see you all there!

Transformation - Aglow Mission Trips

Outreaches are all about God's transformation of people, of communities, of nations. When Jesus said, "Go ye into all the world..." He was talking about us, the bearers of His image, taking news of His transforming power to people who did not yet know it. He was talking about radical, down-to-the-bone-marrow change in the nature of human beings. That's transformation.

If you've been yearning to put yourself on the edge of your comfort zone and be part of an Aglow outreach, this is your chance to make a decision and go with our new Transformation Director, Janet Mangum!
